Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government has taken another sensational decision. The UP Assembly has passed the Code of Criminal Procedure (Uttar Pradesh Amendment) Bill, 2022. Anticipatory bail will no longer be available to rapists. Hooligans are booked under the POCSO Act. The UP government hopes that atrocities against women and girls will decrease. UP minister Suresh Kumar Khanna introduced the bill in the assembly on Thursday. After discussion, the bill was approved on Friday.
In Uttar Pradesh, which has a population of more than 25 crores, rapes against women have become common despite all precautions taken. With this, the UP government hopes to enforce the laws more strictly. In addition to this, the passage of the Code of Criminal Procedure (Uttar Pradesh Amendment) Bill 2022 by the UP Assembly is expected to reduce violence against women to some extent.
