Ahead of their Women’s Premier League opener against Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Giants announced that West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin was ruled out of the tournament due to injury and named Australian Kim Garth as a replacement.
But the Windies batsman denied the reason and said on social media that she is absolutely fine.
“Get well soon if I may ask? she wrote on her Instagram story and replied to a post wishing her good health.
She later took to Twitter and wrote: “I really appreciate all the messages but honestly I’m recovering from nothing but the anointing of the Holy Spirit thank you #GodIsGood #GodIsInControl.”

Following Dottin’s tweet, on Sunday, the Giants released an official statement saying they were unable to “obtain a medical for Dottin by the specified deadline,” while adding that the franchise looks forward to having her as part of the team in the coming seasons.

The statement read: “Deandra is a world-class player and a fantastic signing for the club. Unfortunately, we were unable to obtain a medical certificate before the defined deadline for the season, such clearances are a requirement for all players participating in the WPL. We look forward to seeing her back on the field soon. Subject to the clearance of her medical report, she will be a part of the Gujarat Giants squad for the coming seasons.”
Meanwhile, giants Windies bought the batter for Rs 60 lakh in the auction after bidding for it at a base price of Rs 50 lakh.
In contrast, Garth went unsold at the WPL auction last month. She was part of Australia’s camp for the T20 World Cup in South Africa. However, the fighter only played two warm-up matches before the tournament.
