Two and a half tons of uranium has surprisingly disappeared from the Libyan territory.

After an inspection of the Libyan territory, the International Atomic Energy Agency issued a statement to the member countries in which it was found that two and a half tons of uranium have disappeared from the Libyan territory.

The statement said that the previous administration had declared 10 barrels of two and a half tons of natural uranium no longer present, and that the agency would further investigate the removal of uranium from the said site.

The agency said in its statement that the lack of information on nuclear material could lead to radiological risks and nuclear safety concerns, requiring complex transportation to reach the site in question.

According to reports, in 2003 Libyan Muammar Gaddafi announced the end of the nuclear weapons program.

A foreign news agency said the uranium field was not under government control.
