The epitome of Indian democracy, now everything is happening in the parliament in the country which has never happened before. The ruling party, i.e. BJP MLAs, have brought the Parliament to a standstill by raising the issue of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s speech in London during the second half of the Budget session over the last four days. Rahul Gandhi said while giving a speech in London that Indian democracy is under threat. The country’s constitutional institutions are under pressure. The media has no freedom. BJP says Rahul’s statement abroad is treason. On the other hand, the main opposition Congress and 17 other parties are constantly raising issues against Adani and demanding a Joint Commission (JPC) probe. But the government does not allow discussion about Adani.
On the issue of Adani, 18 opposition parties led by Congress Speaker Mallikarjun Kharge tried to march from the Congress to the ED office. But the Delhi Police did not allow the march of 200 MPs to continue. Kharge had also commented yesterday that 2,000 police officers were deployed to stop 200 MPs.
Thus, even today there are mutual conflicts in Althingi over only two issues. The BJP is demanding an apology from Rahul Gandhi, which the Congress has flatly rejected. On the other hand, it is Adani’s case, for which the government is obviously responsible, but it does not allow this case to be raised in Althingi.
The opposition is helpless. He doesn’t have the numbers. The BJP has a thunderous majority in the Lok Sabha and the support of several parties. In the Rajya Sabha itself, the opposition is able to raise some voice, but there the chairman or deputy chairman does not allow them to raise the Adani issue, because the government does not want it.
