New Delhi: A video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been doing the rounds on the internet amid widespread outrage over the Morbi bridge collapse, which killed more than 132 people.

The phrase ‘act of God’ started trending on Twitter today after opposition leaders and critics cited the Prime Minister’s remarks after the bridge collapse in West Bengal a few years ago.

“Reminds me of the PM’s ‘act of God and act of fraud’ speech after the bridge collapse in West Bengal. Not sharing video due to his extreme insensitivity…so insensitive and uncaring,” Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi tweeted.

Mr. Singh cited several ‘fraudulent acts’ that these disasters occurred because “the quality of construction is being compromised for the sake of ‘money’ as Modiji explained about the Kolkata bridge collapse”.

TMC leader and former India player Kirti Azad said: “Shocked to hear about the death of 122 people after a bridge collapsed in Morbi, Gujarat. It was “renewed” 5 days ago.

“Election Commission, BJP and Modi have literally killed people in their haste to announce that the election was “done” before the code of conduct. An act of God or an act of deception. Azad added.

Senior advocate Prashant Bhushan also expressed similar sentiments.
