The commission said in a press release on Tuesday: “He said that the military is focusing on its fundamental duties as the security of the borders and the country is its first priority.” He said that the army is not available for elections due to the situation in the country.

The Minister of Defense said that in the end it will be the decision of the government whether it wants to restrict the army to its primary duties or send it to other tasks such as electoral duty.

“He also clarified that in the case of mandatory elections, the army can be sent out as a quick reaction force, but it is not possible to carry out the mandatory work in a standstill,” the statement said.

Defense Ministry officials said the current economic situation in the country is also affecting the military.

Traditionally, military forces have played a key role in maintaining peace during elections.

However, attacks by Tehreek-e-Taliban militants in Pakistan have increased in recent months, forcing the army to adjust its forces.

Without soldiers, it would be difficult to maintain law and order during elections.
