The Lahore High Court has ordered an immediate halt to the Zaman Park police operation to arrest Imran Khan till 10 am tomorrow.
In the Supreme Court, a hearing was held on Fawad Chaudhry’s application to stop the police operation in Zaman Park. Punjab Justice Minister Shan Gul appeared before the court.
Imran Khan’s lawyer said that I am not defending Imran Khan, but what is happening outside Zaman Park is a violation of fundamental rights, it has become a war zone.
The Attorney General said that the Imran Khan case is pending in the Islamabad High Court, this application cannot be taken in the Lahore High Court.
Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh said that whoever is leading the operation on behalf of Islamabad police, we will call him. Will issue their directive.
A lawyer for the federal government said that the Islamabad police do not come under the jurisdiction of the Lahore High Court.
The court ordered the immediate appearance of Director General Punjab, IG Punjab and DIG Operations Islamabad Shehzad Bukhari, the head of the operation.
After the adjournment, IG Punjab came to the court, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh told him that if we stop the operation till the verdict of Islamabad High Court, is there any objection?
IG Punjab replied that we are bound to implement every order of the court.
Later, the Lahore High Court ordered the immediate suspension of the police operation at Zaman Park till 10 am tomorrow.
