Union Home Minister Amit Shah will lay the foundation stone of the new campus of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) at Lekwara in Gandhinagar on September 27. Presently, the university operates from a temporary campus at Chandkheda, Ahmedabad.

GTU Vice Chancellor Professor Naveen Sheth announced on Thursday that the proposed project will consist of 17 small buildings, each with different departments of different engineering faculties and adjacent workshop and administrative blocks.

The state government has allotted 100 acres of land and sanctioned Rs 275 crore for the new building. The new university project will also have a stadium and an auditorium with an area of ​​18,000 square meters for solar lighting with an aim to save electricity costs.

The university was established in 2007 by the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Sheth said in his official statement.
