Self-imposed increase in public transport fares by up to 50%

After the announcement of increase in petrol and diesel prices, inter-district and inter-provincial transport fares have increased by 40 to 50 per cent. Fares have been increased by up to 40 per cent on the part of public transporters following the rise in petroleum prices, which has also led to fights between drivers and passengers.
Fares of inter-district, inter-provincial routes have been increased from Rs. 50 to Rs. 1000. Fares of Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Quetta, Zhob have been increased by about Rs. Nowshera, Charsadda, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, DI Khan, Abbottabad, Haripuri, Dir, Chitral and other districts. Cargo fares have also been increased. Various rickshaws and taxis plying in the inner city have also increased fares.
