Recently, Jaishankar was speaking at an event organized in New York to discuss the book ‘Modi @ 20: Dreams Meet Delivery’. During this, he narrated an anecdote related to PM Modi. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said, ‘It was midnight. PM Modi called me. His first question was – are you awake? I told him “yes sir”. Then he asked me what was happening there?, so I told him that “help is on the way”. He told me to call me when all this is done.’

Referring to his first meeting with Prime Minister Modi, the External Affairs Minister said, “I used to like him very much even before I met him.” “Prime Minister Modi himself is the result of change. The truth is that someone like him has become the Prime Minister of India. This in itself is a testament to how much India has changed now.

The Foreign Minister said earlier at the UN Security Council meeting that, “The Ukraine conflict is of grave concern to the entire international community. The future looks more troubling. The nuclear issue is particularly worrying.”

At the same time, the External Affairs Minister underscored the conversation between PM Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Jaishankar said, “The need of the hour is to end the war in Ukraine and return to the path of dialogue.” “Today’s era is not of war,” PM Narendra Modi told Putin on the sidelines of the 22nd summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Samarkand, Uzbekistan last week.
