Jodhpur. The Dev Nagar police station has arrested the leader of the gang and two other accomplices while busting a gang of purse and bag robbers on Tuesday. Both had committed more than 1 dozen robbery cases in two days.

Station Commander Jai Kishan Soni said that a special police team has been roped in to take the robbery seriously on the instructions of higher officials. Meanwhile, the team identified some youths riding a white motorcycle, after which the master builder involved in the incident, Mohammad Sameer and his two other associates were also arrested.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the leader and members of the gang committed the robbery while drunk and having fun. They used to change their clothes after the robbery on a moving bike to hide their identity. He had carried out two incidents in one day in section 9 and 10 of police station Dev Nagar. The stolen mobile phone has been recovered. During interrogation, Mohammad Sameer has admitted the incident of bag robbery at Pali Road, Bheruji Chauraha, Chaupasni Housing Board.

Station master Jaikishan Soni said Hiralal, son of District Court employee Premchand, who lives near the railway hospital, had given the report on March 13. After interrogating the leader of the gang, police have also arrested his two associates Vishal s/o Shravan Valmiki, resident of Rajiv Gandhi Colony Somani College, Santosh Kumar s/o Niaram Meghwal of Chandna Bhakhar, Rajiv Gandhi Colony Gali no. . Vishal and Santosh Kumar have been caught with illegal sharp weapons by the Devnagar special force.
