Pakistan may be reeling from a financial crisis, but that doesn’t matter to Pakistani ministers. On the other hand, Shehbaz Sharif has taken some steps for reforms, according to this the ministers were also ordered to return the government cars. All federal ministers and government offices in Pakistan were ordered to cut spending by 15 percent and give up salaries, allowances, luxury cars, foreign trips and business class travel.

The condition of the country is bad, but still they are in luxury cars

It has been reported in the media that the government has ordered the cabinet members and other officials to return the luxury cars soon. But so far, more than half have not returned the vehicles. The report says that despite the fuel-saving drive announced in February, many high-ranking officials still use SUVs and sedans.

Media reports said the meeting was chaired by Pakistan’s Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. At the meeting, it was said that out of 30 luxury cars, 14 were returned by the cabinet members, while 16 were still in use. After the meeting, the governing council was instructed to take back the luxury cars within three days. The withdrawal of the use of safety vehicles was also discussed, Dawn said.

Need to get money from the IMF

Pakistan’s condition is so bad that even the IMF has refused to give it a loan. And an amount of US$1.1 billion is pending from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The funds are part of a $6.5 billion bailout package approved by the International Monetary Fund in 2019. Experts say Pakistan needs this amount to avoid defaulting on foreign debt.
