Azamgarh- As per instructions of Hon’ble Legal Services Authority, New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, Lucknow and as per instructions of Hon’ble District Judge/Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Azamgarh, today on the occasion of International Women’s Week, Sadar Tehsil Auditorium Literacy Camp was organized at Preeti Upadhyay Women Social Welfare Officer and Annu Singh Women Welfare Department were present as Women Resource Person.
Women welfare officer Preeti Upadhyay said that women have equal rights with men in the society. Fundamental rights Articles 15 and 16 give women the right to equality. The Commissioner was told that under the Pre-Conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Technology Act, 1994, it is a crime under IPC Section 315 to conduct sex selection test before or after conception and female foeticide, which prevents the child from being born alive or delivered. An act done with the intention of causing his death thereafter is an offence. It provides for imprisonment for ten years or a fine for that.
On this occasion Deputy Collector Sadar, Tehsildar Sadar, District Magistrate Sadar, Naib Tehsildar Sadar and women, officers and employees of other departments were present.
