Azad Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has said that a land conservation law has been issued under which agricultural land could not be used for any purpose other than agriculture in future in Azad Jammu Kashmir.
MIRPUR (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 15th Mar, 2023 ) : Azad Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has said that a land conservation law has been issued under which agricultural land could not be used for any purpose other than agriculture in Azad Jammu Kashmir in the future.
Addressing a press conference organized by the Agriculture Department here on Wednesday, the Prime Minister said that the Agriculture Department has been badly ignored in recent years. Referring to the neglect of previous governments towards the development of agriculture and livestock, the Prime Minister said that this neglect had made the most productive and fertile agricultural lands infertile today.
“Had they concentrated on developing both the sectors, Azad Kashmir would have achieved food self-sufficiency,” the prime minister said, adding that it was time for the agriculture and livestock department to improve its performance and devote its efforts to produce it successfully.
The Prime Minister said that economic development and prosperity are directly related to agricultural development. On this occasion, Minister for Planning and Housing Chaudhry Yasir Sultan, Minister for Food Chaudhry Ali Shan Soni, Minister for Education Dewan Ali Chaghtai, Minister for Agriculture Livestock and Irrigation Sardar Javed Ayub, Secretary General Chaudhry Shaukat Ali and officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock were present.
The Prime Minister was earlier informed about the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture to promote agriculture and livestock in the state.
