Gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh has leveled serious allegations against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Swapna Suresh alleged that Vijayan’s close aide and former Kerala chief secretary M Sivasankar was involved in the Brahmapuram waste treatment plant deal. This statement by Swapna Suresh has come at a time when the Brahmapuram waste disposal plant has been on fire for the past few days and the air in Kochi has become suffocating due to it.
In a Facebook post, Swapna Suresh alleged that Chief Minister P Vijayan did not act on the fire at the Brahmapuram waste plant because the former chief secretary of the Kerala Chief Medical Officer was involved in the deal to build the plant. Assaulting the chief minister directly, Suresh said, “You must be wondering why I am raising this issue, the reason is that I also live in Kochi and came to Bengaluru after being rescued but I am not dead
Kochi air poisoned by garbage factory fire
Let us tell you that on March 2 there was a fire in the Brahmapuram garbage plant, due to which Kochi’s air quality has worsened and many people had to leave the city and go to safer places. Aid and rescue work is ongoing to put out the fire and so far more than 5 thousand liters of water have been used to put out the fire. Army, police and district administration are working to put out the fire. The fire is now under control, but the smoke pollution is still at a dangerous level.
The Brahmapuram garbage dump fire case has also reached the Kerala High Court. The High Court has directed the Collector of Ernakulam district to file an affidavit in the matter. Along with this, the Supreme Court said that rules were not followed in the management of solid waste at the Brahmapuram garbage plant. What is gold smuggling?
In July 2020, customs officials at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport seized gold articles weighing more than 30 kg and worth around 15 million rupees. This gold came by hiding in luggage from the UAE consulate. According to informants, the Customs seized the gold. UAE Consulate official Swapna Suresh is the main accused in the case. The name of M Sivasankar, former chief secretary of Kerala Chief Minister P. Vijayan, also surfaced in this case. After that he was fired.
It is interesting to note that Swapna Suresh had also accused Chief Minister Vijayan in the gold smuggling case and told him to be involved in smuggling. Swapna had told a court in Kochi that in 2016, when Vijayan was in Dubai, he was sent a bag full of money. Now, Swapna Suresh has also leveled serious allegations against Chief Minister and former Chief Secretary M Shivshankar regarding the Brahmapuram waste disposal plant fire.
