NDA candidate Jagdeep Dhankhad has won the election for the post of Vice President. Out of 780 MPs of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, 725 MPs voted. At the end of the day today, 92.94 percent voting was recorded. Jagdeep Dhankhard needed the required 346 votes to win, but got 528 out of 725 votes. While 15 votes have been declared invalid. While the opposition candidate Margaret Alva got only 182 votes.
NDA candidate Jagdeep Dhankhard and opposition candidate Margaret Alva were in a contest for the next vice-presidential election of the country. Dhankhad’s victory was considered certain given the strong position of NDA in both houses of Parliament.
Alva, 80, is a senior Congress leader and has served as the Governor of Rajasthan. While 71-year-old Dhankhad hails from Rajasthan’s influential Jat community and has been the governor of West Bengal.

85 percent voting for the election of Vice President was already done by 2 pm. Out of 780 MPs of both houses of Parliament, about 670 MPs had cast their votes by then. While 725 out of 780 MPs had voted by the time polling was completed. While TMC ordered its 36 MPs to abstain from voting. However, Trinamool MPs Shishir Adhikari and Divyendu Adhikari went against Mamata Banerjee’s order and voted.
While the Shiromani Akali Dal, which was once a partner in the BJP coalition, also declared support for the NDA candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar. Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal himself gave information about this.
It may be mentioned that the other 8 Rajya Sabha seats are vacant. PM Modi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh exercised their voting rights in the morning. The Trinamool Congress, which has 39 MPs including 23 in the Lok Sabha, has already announced its decision to abstain from voting in this election. The candidate who gets 394 votes in this election, his victory will be decided. NDA candidate Jagdeen Dhankhad’s victory in this election is considered certain. Because of this, enthusiasm is being seen among the BJP workers. Preparations for the celebration are also underway in the BJP office.
