Esha Gupta, who made a bang in Bollywood with ‘Jannat-2’, has also done a great job in films like ‘Raaz-3’ and ‘Commando-2’. In the web series ‘Ashram-3’ which was released some time ago, he got a lot of love from the audience. Indian athlete P. T. The actress, who aspires to work in Usha’s biopic, even today goes out in a rickshaw carefree. Isha, who wants to be associated with social service, wants drastic changes in the laws related to women in the country. In past days she went to Lucknow. Meanwhile, he spoke openly about his decade in Bollywood, issues related to women and language controversy in the film world. Isha says, ‘After completing a decade in the film world, I feel a lot of change in me. It happens with all that what we were yesterday, is not today. According to me a person always needs to change to do something better. One cannot become a bad person. Change is often taken negatively by people, but with time it is necessary. I am not who I was ten years ago. I myself do not know what has changed in me, but it is true that I have lived life to the fullest. I have not discriminated against myself before or since. I was a fresher then, now I am experienced. For one thing, I still consider myself a girl whose father is in the Air Force. I studied law, but am now acting. I go for a rickshaw ride anytime in Mumbai, but sometimes when someone clicks a photo, I remember, oh, I’m an actress.’
‘I consider my journey so far very successful. Most people ask me how did you become an actress, so I tell them that what God writes for you, happens. If I had not entered the film industry, I would have stayed in the UK and worked in a firm. From there I studied law. At that time I had come to India for some time. Someone told me that you have been Miss India, then why are you not working in films. From then on I felt that I should do something. Then studied acting and dancing for a year. It was my second audition in ‘Jannat-2′ and I got the film. I am happy that the audience loved the film and its songs,’ says an elated Isha.
About the subjects of the films, Isha says, ‘According to me, films should be made on all subjects, because they are considered to be a mirror of the society. Especially the social issue should get a special place. Films should be made so that we can reach more people through them. It is human nature not to like to be lectured, but films when presented as entertainment leave a deep impression on people’s hearts and with this it is our duty to do justice to people. A film should be made on the girl child. If education is the most necessary, then this issue should also be worked in cinema.’
Talking about women, Isha says that ‘This is not only a women’s issue, but the whole country’s issue. Women are given an equal status. Talking about India, the law regarding extortion should be made a little stricter, so that criminals fear both the police and the government.’
Regarding the language controversy, she says, ‘I don’t believe in this controversy. Be it South or North, it is the language of our country. We should see that our Indian cinema is doing very well. I have been in America for two months. There people were talking to me about the film ‘RRR’. The issue is not that Hindi films are flopping and South films are becoming hits, regardless of the language. The way of working is different in every industry.’
Isha said about her desire that ‘P. T. If a film is made on Usha, I would definitely like it. I have been an athlete in my school days. I still run. I always get good roles. Similar good roles are being offered further. My ‘Ashram-4′ will release next year. Apart from that, a psychological thriller film is also in the pipeline. It remains to be seen what fate will do.’
