India records 2,487 new covid cases, 12% less than the previous day

New Delhi: India reported 2,487 new Covid-19 cases, 13 deaths and 2,878 recoveries in the last 24 hours. The Union Health Ministry said that the cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed 191.3 crore.

A spokesperson claimed on Saturday that more than 32 crore COVID vaccine doses have been given in Uttar Pradesh, making it the first state to have. Uttar Pradesh is followed by Maharashtra with 16.60 crore Kovid vaccine doses so far.

According to the data shared by the health department here, Delhi recorded 673 new Covid cases and four more deaths on Saturday, while the positivity rate stood at 2.77 per cent.

The city had also reported four deaths on Friday, the highest single-day number in two months.

Maharashtra reported 248 new coronavirus infections and one pandemic-related death on Saturday, the state health department said. The lone death was reported in Mumbai.

The caseload in the state rose to 78,80,585 and the death toll rose to 1,47,854.

Mumbai reported 131 COVID-19 cases and one death on Saturday, taking the toll to 10,61,463 and the toll to 19,565, a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official said.

Tamil Nadu on Saturday added 35 more COVID-19 infections, including two returnees from the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom, pushing the statewide tally to 34,54,591, the health department said.

A medical bulletin said zero deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours, with the total death toll remaining unchanged at 38,025.

Jammu and Kashmir recorded eight fresh Covid infections on Saturday, taking the number of cases to 4,54,139, while no deaths were reported in a day, officials said.

Gujarat reported 31 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, taking the tally of infections to 12,24,688, a state health department official said.
