In this, he asked all the states and union territories (UTs) to prepare themselves to face the current scorching heat. Gauba said there is a possibility that 2023 will be hotter than usual. Gauba also said that central ministries and departments are working closely with states and union territories to ensure the level of preparedness and timely implementation of countermeasures. Despite this, the chief secretaries of all the states should review heat wave and summer heat preparedness with the respective departmental secretaries and district collectors.

Cabinet Minister Rajiv Gauba also said that henceforth people should be made aware to avoid heatstroke, stay indoors during the day and avoid strong sunlight etc. so that people do not suffer from health problems due to scorching heat. For this, recommendations from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the National Disaster Management Authority can be translated into regional languages ​​and distributed.
