FSL team reached the spot to investigate Delhi’s Mundka fire, death toll rises to 30

Today is the second day of Congress’s Chintan Shivir in Udaipur. Bhupendra Singh Hooda, the convener of the Farmer and Agriculture Committee formed by the Congress for the Chintan Shivir, along with fellow leaders held a press conference in Udaipur. Bhupinder Singh Hooda said, “The Chintan Shivir which is going on. In that a committee has been formed on farmers and the present conditions of farming, of which I am the convener. 40 friends have expressed their views. The welfare of farmers and other issues related to farming were discussed on the present situation. Before coming here, we talked to farmer organizations. I would like to draw your attention to the topics discussed.

Bhupinder Singh Hooda said, “We have many questions on issues like farmers’ loan, legal guarantee of MSP, impact of climate change on agriculture, direct transfer benefit, doubling of farmers’ income, PM Fasal Bima Yojana, green revolution, white revolution etc. . As far as farmers’ loans are concerned. Regarding this, I would like to say that the present NDA government had the idea of doubling the income of farmers by 2022. They didn’t double their income, but they doubled the debt.”

He said, “The loan which was 9.64 lakh crore on March 31 in 2014 has increased to 16.80 lakh crore today. This means that the farmer is in debt. Many reliefs were not given by the central government to the farmers to get them out of debt. Whatever our Congress governments were, whether it was in the state like 15600 crores, we waived the loans of farmers. In Madhya Pradesh, in 2018, a loan of 11912 crores was waived. In Punjab, in the year 2017, a loan of Rs 4696 crore was waived. Similarly, in Karnataka, farmers’ loans worth 22548 crores were waived. The Congress government tried its best to address the farmers’ problems.”

Hooda said, “The first suggestion that has come is that a National Agricultural Debt Relief Commission should be set up to suggest, raise and address the grievances of farmers. No one’s land should be auctioned in the default of the farmer, no criminal case should be started. There should be a legal guarantee on MSP.”
