Drug price adjustment: Drug industry seeks government support – Business & Finance IV News

ISLAMABAD: The pharmaceutical industry has sought the government’s support to address their issues related to price changes of medicines affected by devaluation of Pak Rupee.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar chaired the meeting of the committee appointed by the Prime Minister on the issue of pharmaceutical industry on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Federal Minister for Health Services, Regulation and Coordination Abdul Qadir Patel, SAPM for Finance Tariq Bajwa, SAPM for Revenue Tariq Mehmood Pasha, SAPM for Government Efficiency Dr Muhammad Jehanzeb Khan, Adviser to Prime Minister on Establishment Ahad Khan Cheema , Chairman FBR, Director DRAP and senior officers.

While the pharmaceutical industry delegation included PPMA Chairman Syed Farooq Bukhari, GSK CEO Erum Shakir Rahim, Ferozsons CEO Osman Waheed, Abbott CEO Anis Ahmed, Sante Tauqeerul Haq CEO, PPMA Ex-Chairman Zahid Saeed, PPMA Ex-Chairman Hamid Raza, Shahzad Akram. , FPCCI Vice President, ED Pharma Bureau Ayesha Tammy Haq and others.

The meeting discussed the contribution of the pharmaceutical industry to the country’s economic development. The PPMA chairman appreciated the government’s decision to resolve the issue of LC and fixing the price of paracetamol. He further sought the government’s support to address their issues related to price changes of medicines which are affected due to devaluation of Pak Rupee.

The Minister of Finance acknowledged the contribution of the pharmaceutical industry and emphasized that the current government is committed to solving operational problems affecting various sectors of the economy.

Referring to the Prime Minister’s vision of not burdening the public, the Finance Minister emphasized that the government is determined to address the issues of the common man despite various economic challenges.
