LAHORE: It has been decided to end subsidy on wheat and wheat of the state in Punjab.
According to Express News, targeted grants will now be given instead of general grants in Punjab. It has been decided to take 11,000 shops with the permission of the Food Department to distribute free flour during Ramadan.
It has also been decided to increase the price of a 10 kg bag of government flour by Rs 510, after which the price of a ten kg bag of government flour will increase from Rs 648 to Rs 1158.
After the increase in the price of government flour and wheat, private flour will also be expensive. A bag of 20 kg private flour will be sold at Rs 2400. On the other hand, the sale price of state wheat has been increased from Rs 2300 to Rs 3900 per maund.
The Board of Supervisors has also approved an increase of Rs 1600 per bushel in the price of government wheat to be sold to millers.
