CWG 2022′ Indian Women team secure medal in a thrilling contest against England Sports: Medal of pride in Commonwealth Indian cricket! Team India to win gold IV news

Indian women cricketers made history. Smriti Mandhana brought the country a medal from cricket for the first time in the Commonwealth Games. India reached the final by defeating England in the semi-finals in a close-fought battle. Along with that, the Indian women’s team also confirmed the medal win.

Despite losing to India in the semi-finals, England still have a chance to win a medal. Australia and New Zealand face off in the other semi-final. The English Pramila Bahini will fight for the bronze against the loser of that match.

Smriti Mandhana won the toss and batted first to give India a rough start. Smriti put the team in the driver’s seat at the start by scoring the fastest half-century among Indians in T20Is off 23 balls. Jemima Rodríguez (44) played badly with Smriti’s 61 runs. India posted 164/5 on the scoreboard thanks to the duo’s devastating batting.

Chasing that run, England got stuck at 160 runs. The English also started to counter Mandhana’s destructive batting. Sophia Dunkey and Daniella Watt opened the innings with a flurry. However, Deepti Sharma and Sneh Rana took India to victory with the ball.

England captain Natalie Skiver nearly won the team with 41 off 43 balls. But in the 19th over, Smriti Mandhana’s speedy throw changed the pace of the match.

For England, Amy Jones (31 off 24) and Daniela Watt (35 off 27) pulled the English. However, both were out at the crucial time of the match.

14 runs were needed in the last over to win. It was then that India conceded a penalty. India went to defend the run with only three men outside the circle. But Sneh Rana kept a cool head and won the team.

India will take on the winner of the Australia and New Zealand match to aim for gold on Sunday.
