As the BJP continued to attack Rahul Gandhi over his comments on China, the Congress on Saturday hit back, saying it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was in “eternal love” with China. Speaking at Cambridge Judge Business School on “Learning to Listen in the 21st Century,” Rahul compared the American and Chinese models, arguing that the Chinese value harmony and don’t want things to get out of hand, which was “legitimate.”

The BJP had accused Rahul of praising China and maligning India on foreign soil. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra accused Rahul of discouraging investors from investing in India at a time when the world sees the country as a “bright spot” and foreign companies are leaving China to do business here.

“I don’t even mean the 18 visits he did.” [Modi] has gone to China, or the fact that he was hovering with Xi Jinping… The love affair is so big and the love is so great that he … goes ahead and gives them straight … Isn’t it a matter of that China and India are speaking the same language and basically saying that not a single invasion has taken place from China.
