Apple, the world’s famous mobile phone maker, has said that it will manufacture iPhones at its new factory in India. Apart from ramping up production in other countries, Flagship Mobile’s global supply chain is mainly based in China, where strict Covid policies and an ongoing diplomatic row with the US last year severely hurt production. Karnataka Chief Minister Biswaraj S Bomai tweeted that Apple phones will soon be manufactured in the state. He added that the move will create about one million jobs for Karnataka and many other opportunities. India Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for IT said the proposed plant would cover 300 acres in the state. The announcement came when Foxconn chairman Young Liu on Friday after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this week visited this city.
