The Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) has won a long-running legal battle against its own party founder Altaf Hussain over ownership of a £10m property in London.

According to reports, the Property Division of the UK High Court (ICC) ruled that MQM Pakistan and its members have the right to control the property.

It may be noted that the London property was controlled by MQM founder Altaf Hussain, whose value is said to be 3 billion 40 billion rupees.

In his ruling, the judge ruled that Altaf Hussain had resigned from the party after the speech in August 2016 and was therefore no longer entitled to the property.

On the other hand, MQM-PK convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui while addressing a press conference in Karachi confirmed the decision of the British court and termed it a victory for the party.

Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that the verdict of the British court is proof that MQM-P is the real MQM. He said that the properties of the martyrs will now be used for the welfare of the people, including the litigation of the party’s martyrs, missing and imprisoned workers.

He clarified that MQM-P has decided that part of the property will be given to the widow of former MQM leader Imran Farooq who was murdered in London in 2010.

MQM-PK’s counsel also attended the press conference via video link from London and congratulated the party on the UK court’s decision.
