Union Minister of State for Telecom, Dev Singh Chouhan said in Rajya Sabha that more than 5 crore complaints have been received against telecom companies for not providing mobile phone services properly.
In a written reply to a question raised in the Rajya Sabha in this regard, he said, “In the last financial year 2021-22, about 5.5 crore complaints have been received against telecom companies for not providing mobile services properly.
2,99,68,519 complaints have been received against Airtel and 2,17,85,460 against Vodafone-Idea. 25.8 lakh complaints have been received against Reliance Jio. Meanwhile, the number of complaints against public sector companies BSNL is 8.8 lakh and the number of complaints against MTNL is 48,170.
The companies concerned provided the resolution of the complaints raised by the customers. If the company does not resolve the complaint, the customer can lodge a complaint with the grievance office under the Department of Telecommunications. The resolution of such complaints will be continuously monitored. In this regard, 58,911 complaints were received in the last financial year. Out of these, 58,224 complaints have been resolved.
Replying to another query, Minister Chouhan said, “The number of subscribers who switched from BSNL services to other telecom companies in the last financial year was 52.3 lakh. The number of subscribers who switched from other companies to BSNL service during the same period The number was 28.8 lakh.
